An extensive investigation revealed that the incident took place on September 24, 1992, when the female victim disembarked from a bus near Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

According to reports, the suspect, later identified as Xavier Battice, allegedly followed the woman to a nearby park where he committed the heinous act of rape before fleeing the scene.

The local authorities in California took Battice into custody and held him until Friday when he was transported back to Montgomery County, Maryland, to undergo further processing.

Battice is currently being held without bond.
