Suspect Arrested in Fairfield Following Traffic Stop

A suspect with multiple outstanding felony warrants was apprehended last week in Fairfield, following a traffic stop conducted by the Fairfield Police Department. The arrest took place on December 12th at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of North Texas Street.

Vehicle Pursuit Initiated

Upon attempting to perform the traffic stop, an officer from the Fairfield Police Department noticed that the driver of the vehicle failed to comply and pulled away, initiating a vehicle pursuit. The suspect’s car fled north on North Texas Street, eventually reaching Alaska Avenue. At this point, the driver exited the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot, crossing Air Base Parkway.

Swift Capture by Police

Despite the suspect’s attempt to evade law enforcement, officers were able to apprehend him promptly. The Fairfield Police Department stated, “He wasn’t fleet footed enough, though, and officers took him into custody.”

False Identity Used

Upon being detained, the suspect provided false identification to the arresting officer. However, further investigation revealed his true identity to be 38-year-old James Coley III.

Multiple Felony Warrants

Authorities discovered that Coley had several outstanding felony warrants from Georgia. These warrants included charges related to four armed robberies, four violations of the Georgia “Street Gang Terrorism Act,” and four carjacking incidents.
