Woman Seriously Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Main Street in Falmouth

FALMOUTH ― A woman was severely hurt on Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the pedestrian crosswalk on Main Street in Falmouth. The victim, identified as a 67-year-old resident from Florida who was visiting Falmouth, was involved in the accident, as reported by the Falmouth Police Department.

The incident occurred near 133 Main St. when a Chevy pickup, making a left turn from Post Office Road onto Main Street, collided with the woman. The accident was confirmed by Falmouth Fire Capt. Robert Bergeron, who stated that the Fire Department received a distress call at 4:08 p.m.

According to the police report, the victim was found lying on the ground when emergency rescue crews arrived at the scene. She was swiftly transported to Falmouth Hospital for immediate medical attention. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later airlifted by Boston MedFlight to a regional trauma center.

A female pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at 133 Main St. in Falmouth on Wednesday afternoon. The woman was flown my medical helicopter to an area trauma center for treatment of serious injuries, according the Falmouth Fire Department.

The driver of the Chevy pickup involved in the accident was a 19-year-old man from East Falmouth. He remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the ongoing police investigation.

Responding to the incident, the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene to gather evidence and capture photographs. The Chevy pickup was subsequently towed to the Falmouth Police Department for further examination. As of Wednesday evening, the investigation into the accident is still ongoing, and no additional details have been released.
