Fayette Woman Charged After Leading Police on a Chase in Evansdale, Iowa

EVANSDALE, Iowa (KCRG) – A 32-year-old woman from Fayette, Iowa, has been charged after leading police on a high-speed chase that took place on Wednesday evening.

The incident unfolded on December 12th, at approximately 7:14 pm, when law enforcement officials responded to a report regarding a stolen minivan. The vehicle was reportedly driving on I-380 mile marker 70 with a blown tire and no lights. However, the story didn’t end there. On December 20th, authorities received another report stating that the same stolen minivan had been spotted once again.

According to investigators, the stolen minivan eventually crashed into another vehicle on Gilbert Dr. Despite police attempts to conduct a traffic stop, the driver of the stolen vehicle ignored their signals and continued to evade law enforcement. The driver also failed to stop at multiple stop signs, endangering both pedestrians and other motorists.

The high-speed chase finally came to an end when the stolen minivan crashed into a fence along James St. It was at this point that law enforcement officers were able to apprehend the driver. The woman behind the wheel was identified as 32-year-old Hailey Burke, a resident of Fayette, Iowa.
