Agra Woman Allegedly Electrocutes Husband to Death

A shocking incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra where a woman named Preeti allegedly electrocuted her husband to death. The accused claimed that she resorted to this extreme step due to her husband’s abusive behavior and excessive drinking habit. The local police swiftly arrested Preeti after discovering the lifeless body of her deceased husband at their residence on Monday. A murder case has been registered against her, and the investigation is underway.

Details of the Crime

The police investigation revealed that the victim, identified as 38-year-old Neeraj, succumbed to electric shocks administered by his wife. Preeti confessed to the crime two days later when she reported the incident to the police. Upon receiving the information, the police promptly arrived at the scene and sent the dead body for a post-mortem examination.

Preeti narrated that her husband had been heavily intoxicated on Saturday night and had physically assaulted her when she confronted him about his drinking habit. Enraged by his violent behavior, she immobilized him by tying his legs and hands before subjecting him to electric shocks for a prolonged period of 10 minutes. Tragically, Neeraj lost his life due to the severity of the electrocution.

The shocking revelation came when Preeti disclosed that she had spent the entire night in the same room as her husband’s lifeless body. It was only after that, she gathered the courage to approach the police station and report the crime herself.

Legal Proceedings

The father of the deceased lodged a complaint with the police, leading to the registration of a case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The apprehended Preeti was presented before the court in Agra, where she was sentenced to 14 days of judicial custody on Tuesday. A senior police official provided these details regarding the case.
