Accident – Death – Obituary News : West Berbice Man Fatally Stabbed During Heated Argument Over Domino Game
In a tragic incident that unfolded on Tuesday, a West Coast Berbice resident was stabbed to death during a heated argument over a game of dominoes at Middle Street, Paradise. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Dwayne Byass, also known as “Eddo,” hails from Golden Fleece, WCB.
According to the police, Byass and the suspect, a 26-year-old man named “Buck Boy,” were engaged in a friendly game of dominos at a local shop when things took a turn for the worse. An argument sparked between the two, leading to a physical altercation.
Eyewitnesses stated that during the altercation, Buck Boy unexpectedly pulled out a knife and swiftly struck Byass on his left side abdomen. In a desperate attempt to escape, the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack. Byass, on the other hand, collapsed inside the shop, writhing in pain.
Thankfully, Byass’s cousin happened to be present at the scene and quickly rushed him to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital. Tragically, Byass was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Medical professionals noted that he had suffered a single stab wound to his left side abdomen, causing his intestines to protrude.
Meanwhile, the alleged suspect, Nascio Allen, took a different route. He made his way to the Weldaad Police Station, where he reported the incident, claiming self-defense. Allen alleged that Byass had attacked him with a piece of wood, forcing him to defend himself. In the chaos of the moment, Allen claimed that Byass accidentally ran into the knife he had been holding.
However, the police promptly arrested Allen, given the inconsistency in his statement and the evidence at the crime scene. Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing to ascertain the truth behind this tragic event.
