Two Arrested for Killing Man in Delhi’s Welcome Area: Victim Identified as Vijay, 26

Accident – death – Obituary News : New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested two men in connection with the robbery and murder of a man in the Welcome Area. The incident took place on Tuesday morning when the victim was found dead near Community Centre, West Gorakh Park. The accused, identified as Shehzad (20) and Tahir (36), residents of Janta Mazdoor Colony in the Welcome area, were arrested for robbing the victim of Rs 400 and a mobile phone before killing him.

The deceased has been identified as Vijay, a 26-year-old resident of Seelampur. According to the police, Vijay was unemployed and relied on his three sisters for financial support as their parents had passed away.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey stated, “There were four stab injuries marks on his body – one on the left side of the neck and three on the chest, on both sides.” CCTV footage revealed that Vijay arrived at the scene around 11:29 pm on Monday and sat at different locations before lying under a quilt. It appears that he sustained injuries prior to his death.

During the investigation, Shehzad confessed that he and Tahir were in an e-rickshaw when they picked up Vijay from Seelampur Chowk. On their way to Janata Flat, Welcome, they stopped the e-rickshaw near Community Hall, robbed Vijay at knifepoint, and stole his mobile phone and Rs 400. When Vijay resisted, the accused stabbed him on his chest and neck before pushing him out of the vehicle and fleeing the scene.

The police have recovered the stolen mobile phone, SIM card, blood-stained clothes worn by the accused, and the e-rickshaw used in the crime.
