Teenagers Arrested in Officer-Involved Shooting in Colorado Springs
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) has identified and arrested the teenagers involved in an officer-involved shooting that took place early Saturday morning. The suspects, whose identities have not been released due to their minor status, are facing multiple charges.
The Incident
The incident unfolded on December 16 at approximately 4:00 a.m. when EPSO deputies and officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) were on the lookout for a suspected stolen car. The car was believed to have been involved in other violent crimes that occurred earlier that morning in both Colorado Springs and El Paso County jurisdictions.
Law enforcement officials located the stolen car in the 5900 block of Constitution Avenue, just east of North Powers Boulevard. As officers and deputies attempted to make contact with the suspects in the car, it abruptly drove away. In response, CSPD force-stopped the car, and one of the suspects who exited the vehicle was armed with a handgun.
