Tragic Double Murder-Suicide Leaves Community in Shock

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – The tight-knit community of Phoenix is reeling from the shocking double murder-suicide that claimed the lives of two beloved individuals, Carmen Buscemi and Sage Fitz. The tragic incident has left friends and family grappling with grief and searching for answers.

Carmen Buscemi, a 62-year-old auto shop owner, was known for his loving and generous nature. Steve Moisoff, a close friend of Buscemi for over three decades, fondly recalls their friendship and describes Carmen as the best friend he ever had. “He was the most helpful person I’ve ever known,” Moisoff reminisces.

The horrifying events unfolded on Monday at Buscemi’s auto shop located near Deer Valley Road and 27th Avenue. Police were called to the scene after receiving reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless bodies of Carmen Buscemi and his secretary, Sage Fitz, 49. The suspect was later identified as Sage’s estranged husband, Bryan Fitz, 53.

Law enforcement authorities revealed that Bryan Fitz fled the crime scene before officers could apprehend him. However, thanks to witness testimonies and diligent detective work, they were able to trace his whereabouts to his residence on 22nd Avenue and Uptopia Road. What awaited the officers inside was a scene of unimaginable horror. Tragically, Bryan Fitz had also taken the lives of his 12-year-old son, Baynen Fitz, and the family dog before turning the gun on himself.

Steve Moisoff, devastated by the loss of his dear friend and the senseless deaths of innocent lives, compares the tragedy to the pain of losing his own children. “It was one of the most devastating things in my life. Lost two sons and this is the same if not worse than that,” Moisoff reveals, his voice filled with grief.

Authorities have indicated that “marriage issues” may have been a possible motive for the brutal act. Friends and family of Carmen Buscemi and Sage Fitz have shared that Sage frequently expressed concerns about her marriage and described Bryan as an excessively controlling and jealous individual.

Moisoff reflects on Bryan Fitz’s personality, stating, “You never think something like this is going to happen, but he was a controlling guy and a gun guy. I am not surprised he did this, but no one ever expected it.” It is a chilling reminder of how appearances can often deceive, and the devastating consequences of unchecked emotional turmoil.

As the community mourns the loss of Carmen Buscemi and Sage Fitz, it is important to remember them as the kind-hearted individuals they were. Moisoff emphasizes that Sage was bubbly and personable, and he hopes their memory will be preserved as loving people who brought joy to those around them.
