Lucknow police have finally apprehended a physiotherapist who brutally stabbed his wife 18 times before fleeing the scene two weeks ago. The accused, identified as Anandeshwar Agrahari, was captured near Krishna Nagar area of Lucknow.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Rahul Raj, stated that the arrest of the 38-year-old man, who is also a father of two, has led to the resolution of the heinous murder case. A complaint was lodged by the victim’s brother, Aman Sahu, at the Thakurganj police station, resulting in the registration of a case under IPC 302 (murder).

Fortunately, the knife used in the crime has been recovered, providing crucial evidence for the investigation. DCP Raj highlighted that the motive behind the murder was the accused’s wife’s alleged affair, which frequently led to intense arguments and fights. Financial issues further exacerbated their disputes. It was revealed that the offender is both an alcoholic and addicted to gambling.

During police interrogation, the accused revealed the sequence of events leading up to the murder. He disclosed that he and his wife engaged in frequent arguments about various matters, including her extramarital affair and money-related problems. On December 4, the argument escalated to a violent confrontation, during which he restrained his wife by cuffing her hands and legs. He then repeatedly stabbed her with a kitchen knife, resulting in her tragic demise.

The accused further confessed that he deliberately chose the perfect time to carry out the horrific act. He waited until his elder son, Tanishq, who is differently abled and unable to speak, was asleep, ensuring he wouldn’t hear his mother’s screams. Additionally, his younger son, Shaurya, aged 9, was at school. On his way home from picking up Shaurya, the accused administered sedatives to his younger son, causing him to fall asleep upon their return. Seizing the opportunity, Anand fled the scene.

The lifeless body of the victim, Sandhya Sahu, was discovered on December 5 in Lucknow’s Roshan Nagar area. The shocking incident came to light when the victim’s mother, Kamla, visited the residence and stumbled upon Sandhya’s corpse.

Anand and Sandhya, who had entered into a love marriage 15 years ago, resided in Roshan Nagar alongside their sons, Tanishq and Shaurya. The arrest of Anandeshwar Agrahari offers a glimmer of hope for justice in this brutal case..
