Accident – Death – Obituary News : OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma City police are seeking the assistance of the public to solve a perplexing mystery. The appeal comes in the wake of a fatal shooting that occurred on December 5, leaving a man dead beside his bike on the road.
According to the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD), they received a “check-the-welfare” call in west Oklahoma City in the early hours of December 5. Initially, officers believed they were responding to a car crash involving a person. However, upon arrival, they discovered a different scene altogether.

Gary Knight, a spokesperson for the OKCPD, stated, “There was a person lying near the roadway, in the 6800 block of Northwest 10th Street, which is very close to Rockwell. When officers arrived, as it turns out, the person had been shot to death.”
The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Ira Spells. OKCPD revealed that Spells was found lying on the ground next to his bike.
Two weeks have passed since the shooting, and numerous questions remain unanswered in this case. Knight explained, “The case remains unsolved. Initially, when investigators are faced with a case like this, they exhaust all efforts to gather information and evidence in the hope that it will lead to an arrest.”
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The police are urging the public to provide any information that may assist in solving this deadly shooting. They have released a surveillance photo showing Spells with two other individuals shortly before his death. The role of these individuals is unclear, but the police are keen to speak with them.

In response to the tragic event, Spells’ stepmother reached out to News 4, informing them that a memorial will be held on Friday. She expressed hope that the release of the surveillance photo will bring closure to her son’s untimely death.
