Arrest Made in Ohio After Pursuit Involving Possible Homicide Suspect

NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol arrested a suspect believed to be involved in a potential homicide case in Michigan. The arrest followed a high-speed pursuit on southbound I-75 on Tuesday.

According to authorities, the pursuit began when the Michigan State Police initiated the chase of the suspect, identified as Ronald McLaurin, 33, of Warren, Michigan. The pursuit continued into Ohio, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol took over near Wales Road in Northwood.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol attempted to deploy stop sticks multiple times during the pursuit but was unsuccessful. Eventually, at approximately 12:15 p.m., McLaurin exited onto State Route 18 and sought refuge at the Love’s Travel Shop in North Baltimore.

Upon reaching the Love’s Travel Shop, McLaurin fled on foot. However, troopers and local law enforcement officers quickly apprehended him. It was later discovered that the suspect had been driving a stolen Ford Escape.

Following his arrest, Ronald McLaurin was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation. Once cleared, he was booked into the Wood County Jail. McLaurin now faces charges for failing to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and receiving stolen property, both of which are felonies.
