ROCKVILLE, Md. — A 44-year-old man from Maryland is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after allegedly hitting three pedestrians with his car on December 14 and fleeing the scene.
Authorities are searching for Walter Giovanni Marquez-Aviles, a resident of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Marquez-Aviles has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of first-degree assault.
As the investigation continues, investigators have released a photograph of Marquez-Aviles.
Rockville City Police responded to a report of multiple people being struck by a car at 199 East Montgomery Avenue. Three victims, identified as a 79-year-old woman and two men aged 22 and 18, were transported to nearby hospitals with serious injuries. The 22-year-old victim has been discharged, while the other two victims remain in serious condition.
Little information has been released about the case. However, authorities have revealed that Marquez-Aviles had a court hearing and was acquainted with at least one of the victims. In September, Marquez-Aviles’ 20-year-old son was fatally stabbed, and his son’s girlfriend was subsequently arrested. The murder case is currently in court for a hearing, according to court records.
