Man killed in Cincinnati Police Pursuit on Interstate 75

CINCINNATI — A tragic incident unfolded in Cincinnati early Wednesday morning when a man being pursued by police was hit and killed on Interstate 75. The high-speed chase started after Cincinnati Police officers responded to calls of a possible abduction at approximately 1:30 a.m. According to Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge, the suspect’s vehicle failed to comply with officers’ instructions to stop, leading to a pursuit. The chase eventually came to an end at the intersection of Freeman and Gest Street.

As the suspect abandoned his car and fled on foot, officers initiated a pursuit on foot and requested K-9 assistance. However, before the K-9 arrived, the suspect made a fateful decision to run onto Northbound I-75 at the 1.3-mile marker. Sadly, at around 2 a.m., the suspect was struck by an unidentified vehicle, which fled the scene, leaving him critically injured. Despite emergency medical efforts, the 34-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by Cincinnati Police.

During the incident, a woman who was allegedly abducted was later found unharmed, offering some relief amidst the tragedy, as reported by WCPO, our news partner in Cincinnati.

Reopening of Interstate 75

Following the incident, Cincinnati Police launched a thorough investigation, leading to the temporary closure of Interstate 75. However, the highway has since been reopened, allowing traffic to flow smoothly once again.
