On Sunday, December 17, 2023, Radhakrishnan, aged 55, along with his wife Annapoorani, aged 45, and their son Santhosh Kumar, aged 27, ventured into their sugarcane field as part of their daily routine. However, as the day progressed, their absence raised concern among their loved ones. Worried relatives initiated a search and tragically discovered the lifeless bodies of the trio on the field.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Promptly responding to a complaint lodged by the grieving relatives, the police swiftly initiated an investigation. During the course of their thorough inquiry, the police uncovered crucial evidence indicating that the victims had been electrocuted due to an electric fence illicitly erected by a local resident named Ramamoorthy, aged 55, residing in Palangur village.

It was revealed that Ramamoorthy had installed the electric fence with the intention of protecting his crops from wild boar incursions. However, upon his return to the farm on Monday, he was confronted with the tragic sight of the deceased trio. Allegedly, Ramamoorthy proceeded to dismantle the electric fence and attempted to tamper with the evidence. Subsequently, based on his confession, the police arrested Ramamoorthy, his wife Navammal, aged 45, and their son Thamaraiselvan, aged 28, on the night of Tuesday, December 19.

Judicial Proceedings

The arrested individuals were presented before a local court, where they faced charges related to their involvement in the illegal electric fence installation that led to the untimely deaths of Radhakrishnan, Annapoorani, and Santhosh Kumar. The court decided to remand the trio in judicial custody until further legal proceedings take place.
