Gwenn Marie Story: The Long-Lost Cincinnati Woman Found Murdered in Las Vegas

In a tragic turn of events, the lifeless body of a young woman was discovered in an open field in Las Vegas during the summer of 1979. It took nearly five decades for authorities to finally identify her as Gwenn Marie Story, a 19-year-old who had left her hometown of Cincinnati in search of her biological father and mysteriously vanished. This shocking revelation was made possible through the relentless efforts of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Gwenn Marie Story’s body had remained unidentified for an extended period, leading authorities to christen her “Sahara Sue Doe”. However, thanks to advancements in genetic genealogy, determined detectives were able to make a breakthrough. They successfully identified Gwenn’s family members, who willingly provided DNA samples, enabling the police to confirm her true identity.

Investigations revealed that Gwenn Marie Story had ventured west from Cincinnati in the hopes of reuniting with her biological father, believed to be residing in California. Accompanied by two male friends, Gwenn embarked on her journey during the summer of 1979. Tragically, her companions later returned to Cincinnati alone, claiming to have left her in the Las Vegas area.

Devastatingly, Gwenn’s family never heard from her again after she bid them farewell. Her disappearance remained a painful mystery until the recent breakthrough in the case.
