Albuquerque Police Department Investigates Fatal Shooting in San Jose Neighborhood
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) is currently investigating a fatal shooting that took place on Tuesday evening in the San Jose neighborhood. Authorities believe that this incident may constitute a justifiable homicide.

Upon receiving a report about a suspicious individual in the area, officers were dispatched to a residence located on the 400 block of Alamo Avenue SE. Upon their arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of a man on the street.
APD detectives have since gathered information indicating that the shooting occurred nearby, specifically on the 400 block of Salazar Court SE. According to the investigation, the shooter, who is a caretaker for elderly residents at the home, noticed a potential intruder entering the backyard. In response, the caretaker discharged a firearm, fatally striking the intruder in the yard.
The incident is currently being treated as a possible case of self-defense, and detectives are diligently working to gather all the necessary evidence to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
