LAFAYETTE, La. — On December 20, 2023, devastating news shook the community of Lafayette as the Lafayette Police Department received confirmation that Colby Mitchell, a 38-year-old resident of Lafayette, had succumbed to the injuries sustained in a shooting incident. The initial shooting took place on November 27, 2023.

Since the fateful incident, Colby Mitchell had been receiving extensive medical treatment in an effort to save his life. However, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, his injuries proved to be fatal.
