Emergency crews from Boulder County swiftly responded to a distress call at a home located on Portico Lane just after midnight on Tuesday. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 60-year-old man with severe blunt-force injuries, posing a life-threatening situation. The injured man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital and later airlifted to a Level 1 Trauma Center for further medical attention. Currently, there is no update available regarding his current condition, but the injuries have been confirmed to be the result of an attempted murder.

Investigators have identified Michael Joseph Lucky as the prime suspect in this case, as he is currently involved in an ongoing legal matter concerning the victim’s daughter. Officials strongly believe that the victim was intentionally targeted by Lucky. Out of an abundance of caution, an Everbridge notice was issued for the residents in the Portico Lane vicinity.

Furthermore, Lucky’s vehicle was found abandoned in the area. Subsequently, he voluntarily surrendered himself to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, where he is currently in custody. The incident prompted a joint response from several law enforcement agencies, including the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Longmont Public Safety, Boulder Emergency Squad, Mountain View Fire Rescue, Boulder County S.W.A.T. Team, Boulder County Digital Forensics Lab, and the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office.

As of now, Lucky has not made his first appearance in court for this particular case and remains confined at the Boulder County Jail.
