KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department is actively searching for a suspect involved in an attempted murder case, according to Communications Manager Scott Erland’s statement to WVLT News on Wednesday.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Stephon Davidson, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. The investigation was launched following a shooting incident on McConnell Street that occurred on Tuesday night, Erland confirmed.

In response to a distress call, police swiftly arrived at an apartment situated on the 300 block of McConnell Street around 10 p.m., as reported by Erland. Upon arrival, they discovered a 28-year-old male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. The injured individual was promptly transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for medical attention. Fortunately, the victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Erland reassured.

Based on the available evidence, law enforcement authorities believe that Davidson fired the weapon at the victim through the apartment door during a heated argument and subsequently fled the scene. Investigators are diligently working to gather additional information and uncover the circumstances surrounding this disturbing incident.
