Timothy Brandon Bowers, a 38-year-old resident of Troy, Alabama, was arrested on December 15 and charged with multiple offenses, including two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trespassing. The arrest was made by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, as stated in a news release on their official Facebook page.

The incident unfolded when the sheriff’s office received a call from concerned residents at around 1:44 a.m. on December 15. The residents reported a suspicious vehicle, identified as a silver Chevrolet Silverado, parked on Elkcam Road. According to the arrest affidavit, the occupants of the vehicle, later identified as Bowers, were allegedly pounding on the front door of a nearby home.

Despite being asked to leave by the homeowners, Bowers refused to comply, prompting law enforcement intervention. Deputies arrived at the scene and discovered Bowers sitting inside the vehicle with a parrot perched on his shoulder. Suspecting illegal activity, Deputy Jonathan Thomas approached Bowers and noticed several weapons within the vehicle.

According to the arrest report, Bowers became argumentative and non-compliant with the deputies’ orders, escalating the situation into physical confrontation. To subdue Bowers, deputies were forced to utilize a stun gun. However, when Bowers attempted to grab Deputy Thomas’ holster, the deputy responded by striking the suspect in the face and torso.

Once subdued, Bowers allegedly confessed to deputies that he was “high on mushrooms” and claimed that there was nothing wrong with him. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reiterated these details in their Facebook post.

Bowers was subsequently transported to a local hospital for evaluation. After clearance, he was taken into custody and booked into the Washington County Jail.

The parrot, who appeared unharmed, was secured in a pet carrier and handed over to Washington County Animal Control.

Sheriff Kevin Crews emphasized the significance of reporting suspicious activities, especially during the holiday season. He urged residents to remain vigilant and alert authorities if any concerns arise, reassuring the community of law enforcement’s commitment to ensuring their safety.

It is crucial to note that reporting suspicious behavior can play a vital role in maintaining the security of neighborhoods and protecting residents.
