A 55-year-old man in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife to death following a heated argument over tea, according to local media reports on Wednesday.

The suspect, identified as Dharmveer, reportedly told the police that the incident occurred around 6am on Tuesday when he asked his wife to make tea and became impatient when she took longer than he expected.

In response to his impatience, Dharmveer’s wife questioned why he was shouting, which reportedly triggered his anger further.

According to an officer quoted in the Indian Express, “In a fit of rage, he took out a sword kept inside the house and repeatedly struck her on the head, resulting in her death.”

The victim’s son, who serves as a soldier, and his sister attempted to intervene and stop their father, but he allegedly threatened them as well. The soldier then called the police and filed a complaint.

Dharmveer has been charged with murder in connection with the incident.
