Tiruvallur Woman Arrested for Kidnapping and Killing 8-Year-Old Boy

Tiruvallur, December 20: Rekha, a 35-year-old woman, was apprehended on Monday, December 18, for the abduction and murder of an eight-year-old boy. The incident took place in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, where S Hanish, a resident of Palavedu village, went missing on Saturday. The police discovered his body two days later, after receiving information from witnesses. Rekha was identified as a member of a child-lifting gang and was subsequently arrested.

According to a report by TNIE, Hanish disappeared while playing in an empty field close to his home. His father, Suresh, immediately lodged a missing complaint with the police. Two youngsters informed the police that they had seen the boy in the company of Rekha, their neighbor. During the investigation, the police obtained CCTV footage showing Rekha riding a two-wheeler with a boy and a man, moments before being involved in an accident near the Tiruvallur-Andhra Pradesh border. The video also captured a dispute between Rekha and an autorickshaw driver after the accident. The incident drew the attention of onlookers, who started gathering at the scene. Sensing something amiss, Rekha hastily claimed that she was taking the boy to her hometown with his parents’ permission. However, the police received a call from Hanish’s father, inquiring about his whereabouts, which increased Rekha’s anxiety, as reported by the Times of India.

As time passed, Hanish grew restless, and Rekha became increasingly concerned about the two youths who had witnessed their activities near the border. In a desperate attempt to evade detection, they decided to strangle the boy, slit his throat, and abandon his body along the Tada-Kalahasti Road. Following the heinous act, Rekha returned to the village, pretending nothing had happened. However, the villagers apprehended her and handed her over to the police. During the initial inquiry, it was discovered that Rekha was part of a larger child abduction network.
