26-Year-Old Man Fatally Stabbed During E-Rickshaw Ride in Delhi’s Shahdara

A tragic incident unfolded in Delhi’s Shahdara as a 26-year-old man lost his life after being attacked by two assailants during an e-rickshaw ride. The victim, identified as Vijay, was allegedly stabbed multiple times when he refused to surrender his mobile phone and cash to the attackers. This shocking incident took place on Tuesday morning near the Community Centre in the West Gorakh Park area.

The Welcome Police station was alerted about the discovery of a male body, aged approximately 30-35 years, lying on the roadside near the Community Centre. Upon inspection, the lifeless body was found under a quilt, bearing four distinct stab wounds. The injuries were located on the left side of the victim’s neck and chest, indicating the brutality of the attack.

Authorities immediately initiated an investigation by thoroughly analyzing the CCTV footage from the vicinity. After scrutinizing the recordings, the police focused on an e-rickshaw that appeared suspicious. A dedicated team was formed, and they successfully tracked down the suspected e-rickshaw driver.

Further examination of the CCTV footage revealed that the victim had arrived at the scene around 11:29 pm on Monday. He was seen moving around in different locations before eventually settling under a quilt. It is believed that he sustained the injuries prior to 11:29 pm and succumbed to them during the night.

Through meticulous interrogation, the accused e-rickshaw driver, identified as Shehzad, confessed to his involvement in the crime. He disclosed that his accomplice, Tahir, was also present during the incident. The two men offered a ride to Vijay from Seelampur Chowk and, en route to Janta Flat in Welcome, stopped the e-rickshaw in a secluded by-lane near the Community Hall at West Gorakh Park.

It was at this point that the perpetrators brandished a knife and threatened Vijay, demanding his mobile phone and Rs 400 in cash. When the victim resisted, the attackers resorted to violence, stabbing him in the chest and neck. After committing the crime, they callously pushed him out of the vehicle and swiftly fled the scene.

Investigative efforts have led to the recovery of crucial evidence, including the victim’s mobile phone, blood-stained clothing belonging to the accused, and the e-rickshaw used during the commission of the crime. The police have promptly registered a case against the accused duo and are actively pursuing further leads to ensure justice is served.
