Tampa USPS Worker Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash Identified

TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Police Department has identified the USPS worker who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run accident on Monday. The incident occurred at the intersection of North River Cove Street and North Mulberry Street.

According to authorities, the hit-and-run involved a dark-colored Mercedes sedan that collided with the mail truck before fleeing the scene. Sadly, the USPS worker, identified as 69-year-old Paul Falicia, succumbed to his injuries at the crash site.

Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw expressed his condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the Falica family during this tragic time. Our detectives are committed to finding justice for Mr. Falica and his loved ones. We will conduct a thorough investigation and utilize all available resources to ensure those responsible for this senseless act are held accountable.”

Local residents, deeply affected by the loss of their postal carrier, shared their grief and urged the driver responsible for the collision to come forward. Many mentioned that the victim was just months away from retiring from USPS, making the incident even more heartbreaking.

Tiffany Alameda, a long-time neighborhood resident, expressed her frustration, saying, “That person took a life, and they should not have left the scene. Whether they were under the influence, on the phone, or distracted by their child, it doesn’t matter. The fact remains that they killed someone.”

Authorities have made progress in the investigation, as Tampa police announced on Tuesday that they have located the damaged sedan along North 16th Street. Detectives are actively working to develop leads and identify and apprehend the suspect driver.
