U.S. Park Police Officer Fatally Shoots Suspect After Being Wounded in Drug-Related Incident

WASHINGTON — A U.S. Park Police officer fatally shot a suspect after being wounded by gunfire, according to a report by WTOP.

The incident took place on November 22 when officers attempted to apprehend a man suspected of drug-related offenses. The suspect has been identified as Turell Delonte Campbell, aged 30, as per the report.
Video footage shows an officer, who remains unnamed, chasing after Campbell. The officer was dressed in civilian clothes with marked Park Police apparel, while other officers nearby were in uniform, the report states.
Prior to the shooting, the officer commanded Campbell to get down or face harm.
“No, I’m not,” Campbell can be heard responding.
The video captures the officer grabbing Campbell’s arm before multiple gunshots are heard. Both the officer and Campbell sustained several gunshot wounds, according to the report.
The injured officer was admitted to a hospital with wounds to the torso and legs. Campbell was also transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead, as reported by NBC4.
