Authorities Identify Victim and Seek Information

Authorities have released the name of a young man who was found shot to death near a building in Birmingham. The victim has been identified as Sheldon Deion Henry Jr, a 20-year-old resident of Center Point.

The incident unfolded on Monday morning when officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Second Avenue North following a report of a person down. A passerby had made the grim discovery and promptly alerted the police.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found Sheldon Deion Henry Jr. unresponsive. Tragically, Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service later pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office conducted an investigation and determined that the cause of death was a result of gunshot wounds.
