Tarrant County Man Faces Criminal Charges After Fatally Striking Pedestrian

Tarrant County (FOX 44/KWKT) — A resident of North Texas is now facing criminal charges following a tragic incident where he allegedly struck a pedestrian with his car and proceeded to drive around with the lifeless body in the passenger seat.

The White Settlement Police received an urgent call at approximately 11:13 p.m. on Saturday night regarding a vehicle parked in a fast food restaurant’s parking lot. Witnesses reported severe damage to the car and noticed the driver slumped over the steering wheel. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers made the shocking discovery of a deceased individual in the front passenger seat of the Kia Forte.

The detained driver claimed that he believed he had struck an animal in Dallas and decided to continue driving until he reached the restaurant. Detectives theorize that the impact of the collision propelled the pedestrian’s body into the car, ultimately landing in the passenger seat.

The driver, identified as Nestor Joel Lujan Flores, was subsequently arrested and could potentially face a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter. It is worth noting that Flores has had a previous encounter with the law, as he was arrested in 2020 by the Plano Police Department for Driving While Intoxicated. In 2021, he was convicted of the same charge in Collin County.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that the initial collision might have occurred on the westbound service road of I-30 near Cockrell Hill Road. Investigators have discovered human remains in close proximity to the roadway, which could potentially be linked to the victim found inside the car.

The distance between the location of the crash scene and the restaurant where the car was found is estimated to be approximately 38 miles.
