The Plainfield Police Department received a distressing call reporting a burglary at approximately 3:38 a.m. EST. Officers promptly responded to a residence located in the 5800 block of Grevillea Lane, according to a Facebook post by the police department.

Upon their arrival, officers made a grisly discovery — the lifeless bodies of a male and a female. Investigative reports suggest that the assailant gained entry through a shattered basement window, as reported by WTHR-TV.

Plainfield police Deputy Chief Joe Aldridge shared, “Our agency is now handling this as a murder-suicide case,” as reported by the Indianapolis Star.

Authorities have not disclosed the exact cause of death for the couple, leaving the community yearning for answers.

The female victim has been identified as 47-year-old Jessica Diane Stoebick, who was the homeowner. The male victim has been identified as 41-year-old Ryan Gibbs, Stoebick’s estranged husband, according to the local newspaper.

Fortunately, three teenagers who were present inside the home during the incident managed to escape unharmed and swiftly alerted the authorities, as reported by WISH-TV.

Online court records indicate that Gibbs had pending charges against him. In April, he faced charges of invasion of privacy, intimidation, stalking, resisting law enforcement, and distribution of an intimate image, as reported by the Star.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Gibbs had allegedly violated a non-contact order and had left explicit photos of Stoebick in her neighborhood and outside her workplace, bearing her name and phone number. This disturbing behavior was documented by the newspaper.

Court records further reveal that Gibbs had a pretrial conference scheduled for January 17, 2024, as disclosed by WXIN-TV.

Deputy Chief Aldridge addressed the media, acknowledging the immense difficulty faced by the affected family, particularly during the holiday season. He earnestly requested the community’s support, urging everyone to keep the grieving family in their thoughts and prayers.
