Man’s Body Found in Car at Jack in the Box in White Settlement

WHITE SETTLEMENT – Over the weekend, a shocking discovery was made at a Jack in the Box restaurant along I-30 in White Settlement. A man’s body was found inside a car parked at the establishment, nearly 40 miles away from the location where police believe he was struck by that very car.

The victim, identified as a 45-year-old homeless man, was known to frequent the area near I-30 in Cockrell Hill Road in Dallas County. Deputies in Dallas County found evidence of a crash and human remains believed to belong to the victim, prior to the discovery in White Settlement.

White Settlement police were alerted to the situation after receiving a 911 call reporting the man’s presence in the car. The caller, a woman at the Jack in the Box, expressed concern about the man, describing him as slumped over and appearing to have been in a car wreck.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a gray Kia in the parking lot with significant front-end damage. Inside the vehicle, they found Nestor Lujan Flores slumped in the driver’s seat, with a body in the passenger seat next to him, partially protruding through a hole in the windshield.

Further investigation revealed that the crash scene discovered by Dallas County deputies was connected to this incident. It is now believed that Flores struck the victim in Dallas County and drove for 38 miles with the body in the car until the vehicle became inoperable.

“We found a pool of radiator fluid and extensive damage to the car. Our belief is that the car would not start back up,” stated White Settlement Police Chief Chris Cook.

Flores has been arrested on a pending charge of intoxication manslaughter. Police are awaiting the results of a blood alcohol test, which they expect will confirm that Flores was under the influence at the time of the incident.

“Once we placed him in the backseat of our car, the officer commented that it smelled like a brewery,” Chief Cook added.

This is not the first time Flores has faced charges related to alcohol. In 2020, he was convicted of a DWI after being pulled over for speeding on the Dallas North Tollway. At the time, Flores admitted to drinking four glasses of wine and received a text message from his brother reading “you driving drunk.”

During questioning on Saturday, Flores claimed to have thought he had hit a deer. The timeline suggests that he drove from his home in Arlington to the Dallas area around 6 p.m., with the crash occurring between 8 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. However, the discovery of the body in White Settlement did not occur until 11:15 p.m.
