Last week, a routine trip to the grocery store turned into a heart-wrenching tragedy when a road rage incident in Los Angeles resulted in the fatal shooting of a 4-year-old boy, according to law enforcement officials.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident took place around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, in the city of Lancaster. The victims were driving near Sierra Highway and East Avenue J when the suspects’ vehicle abruptly cut them off, initiating a dangerous pursuit through the city streets.

Eventually, the victim driver decided to reduce speed, hoping to evade the aggressive suspects. However, to their horror, the suspects caught up to their car and opened fire. Tragically, the little boy, who was seated in the back, sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

Though the boy’s parents remained unharmed, they rushed their beloved child to the nearest hospital. Unfortunately, doctors could not save him, and he was pronounced dead.

The authorities swiftly located the suspect vehicle in the vicinity and apprehended two individuals identified as Byron Burkhart, 29, and Alexandria Gentile, 27. Both are currently held at the Los Angeles County Jail, facing suspected murder charges, pending formal legal proceedings. The identity of the actual shooter has not been disclosed by investigators.

The young victim has been identified as Gor Adamyan. A GoFundMe page dedicated to his memory describes him as “a vibrant four-year-old boy whose life was tragically cut short.”

Miguel Coronado, a spokesperson for the family, shared with the Los Angeles Times that the shooter unleashed a hail of bullets, firing a total of eight rounds into the family’s vehicle, three of which fatally struck young Adamyan.

Coronado further revealed that the boy’s parents had initially planned to leave him at home with his 16-year-old brother. However, when he began crying and expressed his desire to accompany them, the parents, unaware of the imminent danger, allowed him to join them on the fateful trip.

“They are devastated that they brought him along,” Coronado expressed to the Times, highlighting the immense grief and guilt experienced by the grieving parents.

In an interview with KABC, the local ABC affiliate, Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris expressed his profound shock and sorrow over the tragedy, describing it as “unimaginable.”

“This heartbreaking incident could have befallen any of our families. It could have happened to any one of us,” Mayor Parris lamented, emphasizing the community-wide impact of this horrific event.
