Delhi: 9-Year-Old Kidnapped While Playing Outside House, Raped And Killer Later

New Delhi: A nine-year-old girl was reportedly abducted, subjected to sexual assault, and tragically murdered in the Swaroop Nagar area of north Delhi, as confirmed by the local police on Tuesday.

The senior police officer stated, “On December 12, at 8.30 pm, we received a distress call regarding the kidnapping of a nine-year-old girl. An FIR was registered under Section 363 (kidnapping), and specialized teams were swiftly formed to apprehend the perpetrator, identified as Sanjeev Rana (52).”

According to the victim’s parents, who are employed as laborers in a nearby factory and reside in a rented dwelling, their daughter was snatched by an unknown man while she was engrossed in outdoor play.

Further investigation revealed that the victim boarded the accused individual’s vehicle around 2 pm on December 12, as confirmed by the police.

The police officer added, “While the search for the missing girl was underway, the accused individual encountered a road accident and was subsequently admitted to a hospital in Rohini on December 15. A police team was dispatched to the hospital, but the suspect was deemed unfit for providing a statement.”

However, on December 17, the accused confessed to the heinous crimes of abduction, rape, and murder of the young girl, disclosing that her body was disposed of in the Munak Canal, according to the police.

“To locate the victim’s remains, we are meticulously examining the routes taken by the accused individual. The accused will be brought in for the search operation on Tuesday,” affirmed the police officer.

The police have registered an FIR under sections 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder), 302 (murder), and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen the offender) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Dedicated police teams are currently engaged in searching for the victim’s body, as per the latest updates.
