Fatal Flooding Incident in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Tragedy struck Mount Pleasant as a coastal storm ravaged the area, resulting in a devastating flood-related death. The Nor’easter storm unleashed heavy rain, leading to widespread flooding along the South Carolina coast. The torrential downpour rendered numerous roads impassable across Charleston County, leaving residents battling rising waters.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department swiftly responded to a distress call on Sunday afternoon. The report indicated that a person was trapped inside a fully submerged vehicle on Omni Boulevard in Ravens Run. Two officers from the police department, accompanied by Mount Pleasant firefighters, valiantly entered the treacherous waters in an attempt to rescue the victim.

As the heroic first responders brought the victim ashore, they immediately initiated life-saving measures. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were promptly summoned to the scene and swiftly transported the victim, identified as 72-year-old Nancy Morrow from Mount Pleasant, to a nearby hospital, East Cooper Medical Center.

Sadly, despite the tireless efforts of the first responders, Morrow succumbed to asphyxia due to drowning and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Charleston County Coroner, Bobbi Jo O’Neal, confirmed that Morrow’s tragic demise was a direct consequence of the coastal storm’s impact.
