The incident involved a pick-up van traveling from Otur in Pune district towards Kalyan. The van collided with an autorickshaw and a truck, resulting in the accidental deaths of five men, one woman, and two children.
Among the deceased were four members of the same family who were traveling in the pick-up van. The victims have been identified as Ganesh Maskare (30), Komal Maskare (25), Harshad Maskare (4), and Kavya Maskare (6). They were residents of Madh Pargaon in Junnar taluka, Pune.
While the identity of the remaining deceased is yet to be ascertained, the police are actively investigating the matter.

Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Kandge and his team from the Otur Police Station swiftly responded to the distressing news and arrived at the accident site. Working alongside locals, they carried out rescue and relief operations, providing assistance to the victims and their bereaved families.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Otur for post-mortem examinations.
Speaking about the tragedy, Police Sub-Inspector Sachin Kandge, in charge of the Otur police station, shared, “Ganesh Maskare, along with his family, had attended his sister-in-law’s wedding in Pimpalwandi village. After the celebration, they were returning home late at night. As Ganesh was a vegetable trader, he had loaded his pick-up truck with produce. While his family stayed at home, he was on his way to Tokawade to sell the vegetables, as was his usual routine.”
“Unfortunately, his car met with an accident at Pimpalgaon Joga, resulting in the tragic loss of his wife and two children,” he added.
Second Accident: Chandanapuri Village, Sangamner
In another devastating incident, a cargo truck traveling from Pune to Sangamner overturned on a car passing through the service lane near Chandanapuri village on the Nashik-Pune highway. The victims have been identified as Abhay Suresh Visal (48), Ojaswi Harshal Dharankar (2.5), Asha Sunil Dharankar (42), and Sunil Dinkar Dharankar (65) from Akole in Ahmednagar district.
Abhay Suresh Visal was a well-known vendor of bhel (snacks) in Akole. Following the accident, the local villagers and the Dolasane highway police rushed to provide aid. The driver of the cargo truck managed to flee the scene.
Detailing the incident, Sangamner Police Inspector Devidas Dhumne explained, “Both the car and the cargo truck were traveling in the direction of Sangamner from Pune when the accident occurred. As the truck negotiated a turn, it toppled onto the car, causing the tragic deaths of four out of the car’s five passengers.”
