Woman Arrested for Stealing Wallet at Gas Station in Carlisle County, Kentucky

CARLISLE COUNTY, Ky. (KFVS) – In a shocking turn of events, a woman has been apprehended by the Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly stealing a man’s wallet at an Indian Hills gas station in Arlington, Kentucky. The incident, which occurred on December 16, has left the victim distraught and authorities working diligently to bring justice to the situation.

Wallet Disappears, Surveillance Footage Reveals Culprit

According to the victim, he accidentally left his wallet unattended on the counter of the gas station. To his dismay, upon returning, he discovered that his wallet had mysteriously vanished. Concerned and determined to find the perpetrator, the victim immediately reported the incident to the Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office.

In an effort to shed light on the situation, deputies reviewed the surveillance footage from the gas station. It was during this examination that they stumbled upon a significant clue – a white woman, later identified as 39-year-old Tonya Felty from Columbus, Ky., was recorded taking the wallet from the counter.

Valuables Lost, Arrest Made

The victim informed the deputies that his wallet contained a substantial amount of cash, estimated to be between $1,500 and $2,000. Additionally, credit cards and identification documents were also inside the stolen wallet.

Acting swiftly, a deputy attempted to contact Felty, but she abruptly hung up upon learning the officer’s identity. Undeterred, two deputies promptly headed towards Felty’s residence and encountered her on Ray Gibson Road. A traffic stop was initiated, leading to the discovery of the stolen wallet inside Felty’s vehicle.

As the investigation unfolded, it became evident that Felty had conducted unauthorized shopping sprees during her escapade. She had visited Bath and Body Works and Victoria’s Secret stores in Paducah, Ky., spending a total of $283.66. Furthermore, an astonishing $500 had been deposited into a Cash App account.

Consequences Await

The gravity of the situation couldn’t be ignored, and Felty was promptly arrested on felony theft charges. She was then transported to the Ballard County Jail, where she awaits further legal proceedings.

Fortunately, some solace was found amidst the chaos as authorities managed to recover the stolen wallet. However, the cash inside had dwindled to $619, leaving the victim with a significant loss.

The Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office has expressed their commitment to diligently investigate the incident, ensuring that justice is served and the victim receives the restitution they deserve.
