Man Arrested After Opening Fire at Clinton Bar, Injuring Three

CLINTON, Iowa — An incident at a local bar in Clinton, Iowa, left three people injured after a man opened fire early Sunday morning. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Ralph Antonio Beal, was later apprehended in Whiteside County, Illinois.

Shots Fired at Ohana’s Neighborhood Bar

At approximately 1:15 a.m. on December 17, the Clinton Police Department responded to a shots fired call at Ohana’s Neighborhood Bar, located at 992 Main Ave. Witnesses reported that several victims had sustained gunshot wounds. Upon arrival, officers interviewed witnesses who identified Ralph Antonio Beal as the suspect. Surveillance video footage was also obtained as physical evidence.

Alleged Shooting and Subsequent Fleeing

According to witness testimony described in the arrest affidavit, Beal allegedly opened fire inside the bar before two courageous customers managed to subdue him and seize his firearm. Beal fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement officers.

Arrest and Injuries

While officers were still at the bar, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois received a call regarding a man with serious injuries at a nearby gas station. The individual was later identified as Ralph Antonio Beal. Deputies located Beal’s vehicle, registered under his name, and subsequently arrested him. Beal’s injuries were consistent with the struggle that took place at the bar.

Victims Receiving Medical Treatment

Three individuals who sustained gunshot wounds were immediately transported to MercyOne’s emergency department. Two of the victims were in critical condition, while the third suffered a minor facial gunshot wound. At present, the identities and current conditions of the victims remain unknown.

Charges Against Beal

Ralph Antonio Beal is now facing multiple charges in relation to the incident. These charges include reckless use of a firearm causing serious injury, two counts of willful injury causing serious injury, willful injury causing bodily harm, and possession of a weapon or offensive weapon by a felon.

Legal Consequences and Ongoing Investigation

Beal is currently in custody at the Clinton County Jail, with a cash bond set at $100,000. The case is under investigation by the Clinton Police Department.
