Texas Man Accused of Hit-and-Run Drives 40 Miles with Victim’s Body in Passenger Seat

A shocking incident unfolded in White Settlement, Texas, when a man was accused of a hit-and-run that resulted in the victim’s body being thrown into the car’s passenger seat. The driver, however, drove for another 40 miles before passing out in a Jack In The Box restaurant on Saturday night.

Local authorities were alerted to the situation when they received a welfare check call regarding a man slumped over the steering wheel of a gray Kia Forte 4-door passenger car, according to a department release.

Upon arrival, the responding deputy noticed significant damage to the front end, hood, and windshield of the vehicle. To their astonishment, they also discovered a lifeless human body in the front passenger seat.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Nestor Lujan Flores from Arlington, was immediately asked to exit the vehicle and detained for further investigation.

Investigators believe that the impact of the accident was so forceful that the pedestrian was thrown inside the car and landed in the passenger seat.

When questioned by the police, Lujan Flores claimed that he thought he had hit a deer in Dallas and continued driving to the Jack In The Box. However, it was later revealed that he never reported the collision to the police.

White Settlement Police Chief Christopher Cook expressed his disappointment, stating, “It’s very unfortunate that he did not realize that this was a human being to stop and render aid, and call for help. When you’re impaired to this level where you hit a pedestrian on the roadway, and you think it’s an animal, that’s a significant impairment.”

Lujan Flores is currently in custody at the White Settlement Jail, facing a pending charge of intoxication manslaughter. Previous records show that he had been arrested for DWI twice, with a conviction in 2021, according to KWTX TV.

The victim’s identity has not been released, but the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office informed White Settlement Police of a crash on I-30 where human remains were found. Authorities will conduct tests to determine if they match the body found in Lujan Flores’ car. The name of the victim will be publicly released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once their loved ones have been notified.
