Teenage Boy Arrested in Fond du Lac After Alleged Vehicle Theft and Police Chase

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – A teenage boy was apprehended by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office after allegedly hot-wiring a vehicle and leading the police on a 2.5-mile chase.

The incident took place on December 17 around 9:30 p.m. when a Sergeant from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office noticed a vehicle speeding through the City of Fond du Lac. The Sergeant promptly alerted the authorities and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect refused to comply and continued to accelerate. The chase ensued as the suspect drove onto Highway 151 before eventually coming to a halt near Hickory Street.

Following a high-risk stop, law enforcement officers took the 14-year-old suspect into custody. Further investigation revealed that the boy had broken into the stolen vehicle and hot-wired it just moments before the police chase began. Additionally, the suspect confessed to breaking into and hot-wiring another vehicle the previous night.

The pursuit ended when the stolen vehicle crashed into a ditch on Pioneer Road in Fond du Lac, prompting the suspect to abandon it. Fortunately, no civilian or law enforcement vehicles were damaged during the chase.

The teenage boy was subsequently sent to the Fond du Lac County Secure Detention Center, where he is currently being held on multiple charges. Authorities also issued several traffic citations related to the chase.
