Stolen Classic Car and Parts Recovered During Warrant Execution in Cleveland

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — The Rocky River Police Department has successfully recovered a stolen classic car and seized parts from another vehicle while executing a series of warrants in Cleveland last week. This significant breakthrough comes as a result of a thorough investigation led by the Rocky River Police Department’s Detective Bureau, with assistance from the Westshore Enforcement Bureau, the Cleveland Division of Police, and other regional partners.

According to Rocky River Police Chief George Lichman, the execution of three residential search warrants on December 14 at a home on West 31st Street in Cleveland was directly linked to the thefts of a 1966 Chevrolet Impala and a 1970 Pontiac GTO from a secured parking garage in Rocky River the previous month.

During the operation, investigators made a remarkable discovery as they found the stolen 1966 Chevrolet Impala hidden and covered in the backyard of one of the homes. In addition to the recovered classic car, they also stumbled upon a fully-functional “chop shop” at the residence. Further search efforts led to the recovery of several parts belonging to the stolen 1970 Pontiac GTO, including the motor, doors, fenders, seats, and rear axle.

Furthermore, the authorities uncovered other vehicles and vehicle parts at the site, indicating the possibility of additional criminal activities. However, the investigation is still ongoing, and charges against those involved in the thefts are forthcoming as the police continue to gather evidence.

The swift recovery of the 1966 Impala is a testament to the dedication and expertise of the Rocky River Police Department and their collaborative efforts with law enforcement agencies in the region. The classic car has since been returned to its rightful owner, bringing a sense of relief and closure to the victim.

Motor vehicle theft is a serious crime that affects countless individuals and communities. The Rocky River Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its residents by relentlessly pursuing those responsible for such criminal activities. Their dedication to upholding the law and protecting the community is commendable.
