“Rockville Police Continue to Search for Hit-and-Run Suspect, Walter Giovanni Marquez-Aviles”

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Rockville City Police are currently on the lookout for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run incident, and they are seeking the assistance of the public in locating him.

According to the Rockville City Police, a driver struck and injured multiple pedestrians near the Montgomery County Circuit Court and County Executive’s Office in downtown Rockville on Thursday. The incident has left two of the three victims still hospitalized, including an 18-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman. However, a 22-year-old woman has been released from the hospital on Thursday night. The suspect in question has been identified as Walter Giovanni Marquez-Aviles, who was reportedly driving a dark-colored SUV.

The Rockville City Police are urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run incident or the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward and assist in their investigation. Authorities are particularly interested in any details that could potentially lead to the arrest of Marquez-Aviles.

In another news development, the Montgomery County Planning Board has recently approved a plan to expand the Chevy Chase Lake development. The centerpiece of the plan is the construction of a large building called Chevy Chase Lake West, which will consist of 220 units of multifamily apartments and townhomes, along with 28 affordable units. Additionally, the development will feature over 19,000 square feet of retail and commercial space. Once completed, Chevy Chase Lake West will be conveniently located next to the Purple Line light-rail transit system.

Moving on, Montgomery County students have taken part in a contest organized by the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office and Montgomery County Public Schools. The contest required students to create opioid awareness public service announcements (PSAs) to educate their peers about the dangers of opioids and fentanyl overdoses. Many of the participating students revealed that their personal experiences of witnessing drug use and abuse among their peers served as inspiration for their realistic and impactful videos. State’s Attorney John McCarthy highlighted the importance of the contest, citing that 11 Montgomery County Public Schools students lost their lives to fentanyl overdose last year. The winning group of students will be awarded $1,000 for their efforts.

In terms of the weather, today’s forecast predicts a high temperature of 52 degrees Fahrenheit with strong winds and precipitation expected throughout the day.
