At precisely 7:17 a.m., officers from the Birmingham Police Department’s North Precinct responded promptly to a distress call reporting a person down in the 300 Block of 2nd Avenue North.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement discovered an adult male lying unresponsive in close proximity to a commercial building. The Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived swiftly and, unfortunately, pronounced the victim dead. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victim had succumbed to his wounds, indicating that he had been shot.
