Tragically, human remains were discovered in a desert area of Henderson, just outside of Las Vegas, and have since been identified as those of Marayna Rodgers. The news devastated her loved ones, who had been desperately searching for answers.

The investigation took a major turn when detectives determined that Comanche and Harnden were responsible for the murder of Rodgers. Police learned that Rodgers had been out with friends on December 5 and had a pre-arranged meeting with Harnden, who brought her boyfriend along. Detectives suspected foul play and gathered evidence that led to the arrests of Comanche and Harnden.

Chance Comanche, who played for the Stockton Kings, the G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, was taken into custody by a California FBI Criminal Apprehension Team. He is currently being held in the Sacramento County Jail and is expected to be extradited to Nevada to face charges.

Sakari Harnden, the girlfriend of Comanche, was arrested in Las Vegas on a first-degree kidnapping charge. She is currently being held in a downtown Las Vegas jail on $500,000 bail. According to a criminal complaint, Harnden admitted to holding or detaining Rodgers against her will and without her consent, with the intention of killing her or causing harm.

The circumstances surrounding Rodgers’ disappearance and murder remain under investigation. The police have not released any additional details at this time, but they believe that Comanche and Harnden executed a murder plan.

The tragic case has deeply affected the Las Vegas community, and organizations like The Dock Ellis Foundation, which advocates for families of missing and murdered people of color, have expressed their condolences and pledged to support Rodgers’ family during this difficult time.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
