Murder-Suicide Leaves Two Dead in Plainfield Home

In a tragic incident that unfolded early Monday morning, local investigators have confirmed that two individuals lost their lives in a murder-suicide at a residence in Plainfield. The authorities were alerted to a potential burglary at a home located in the 5800 block of Grevillea Lane at approximately 3:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a shattered basement window and the lifeless bodies of two adults inside the residence. The Plainfield Police Department immediately called in their detectives to initiate a thorough investigation of the crime scene.

Deputy Chief Joe Aldridge of the Plainfield Police Department stated, “Our agency is now treating this case as a murder-suicide.” The deceased individuals have been identified as 47-year-old Jessica Diane Stoebick, the homeowner, and her estranged husband, 41-year-old Ryan Gibbs, who was the intruder responsible for the break-in. The authorities have learned that Gibbs had a history of pending charges, including invasion of privacy, stalking, intimidation, and violating a no-contact order, according to online court records.

Fortunately, other family members who were present in the home during the incident remained unharmed. Plainfield police have emphasized the importance of supporting the affected family, especially during the holiday season. Deputy Chief Aldridge expressed, “This investigation is profoundly challenging for the affected family, particularly given the holiday season. We ask for the community’s support in keeping the family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
