Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting in Antioch

ANTIOCH – An arrest has been made by the East Bay police following the fatal shooting of a man near railroad tracks in Antioch over the weekend.

On Saturday around 4:30 p.m., authorities received a report of a shooting in the vicinity of the 700 block of West 1st Street, close to the Amtrak station in Antioch. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 29-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention from both officers and paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed pending family notification.

Eyewitnesses present at the scene provided officers with a description of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle. Shortly after, the Brentwood police located the suspect’s vehicle on the 1200 block of Dainty Avenue.

With the assistance of the Brentwood police SWAT team, officers apprehended the 40-year-old male suspect without any resistance. The suspect’s identity has not been released at this time.
