Man Fatally Shoots Teen at Sonic Drive-In in Tennessee: Police

A man has been accused of tracking down a teenager and fatally shooting him at a Sonic Drive-In in Tennessee. The incident occurred after the man accused the teen of breaking into his wife’s car, according to the Memphis Police Department.
On November 3, a woman contacted the police to report that her vehicle had been burglarized and an item had been stolen. Later that day, the woman’s mother called the police again to report that she had spotted the suspected car burglar at a Sonic Drive-In.

Upon receiving the call, Timothy Moore, a 55-year-old man, asked a friend to drive him to the Sonic Drive-In to confront the accused burglar. When Moore arrived at the scene, he found a 17-year-old boy behind the establishment.
Moore got out of the vehicle and initiated a confrontation with the teenager. Unexpectedly, he pulled out a gun and shot the teen in the chest. As the others present at the scene started to flee, Moore fired another shot, as reported by a witness to the police.
The injured teenager was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. The police were able to identify the vehicle Moore arrived in, a red Ford Edge, and they interviewed the driver who positively identified Moore in a line-up.
Court records show that Moore has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon on December 15.
According to the police, Moore had previously served 18 years in prison for charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated robbery dating back to 2004.
