Kanpur: In a devastating incident, four individuals tragically lost their lives, while two others sustained critical injuries, after a high-speed container truck collided with a roadside dhaba and three huts near the Manikpur turn in the Ekdil police station area on the Kanpur-Agra National Highway in Etawah district. The accident occurred late on Saturday, as the truck was en route to Delhi from Jharkhand. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, expressed his deep sorrow and extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also ordered immediate medical attention for the injured victims and wished them a speedy recovery.

Upon receiving news of the tragic accident, the district magistrate, Avanish Rai, and the Etawah SSP rushed to the scene to oversee the rescue operations. The bodies of the deceased were carefully extracted from the wreckage and subsequently sent for post-mortem examinations. Meanwhile, the injured individuals were promptly admitted to the district hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district, two lives were tragically cut short, and three individuals suffered injuries in a collision between two motorcycles on the Satner-Bhainsdehi road. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Athner police station, approximately 25km from the district headquarters. The deceased were identified as Sachin Thakre (22) and Haridas Uikey (19). The injured victims are currently undergoing treatment at the Athner Community Health Centre.

Another devastating accident occurred near Ulundurpet in Kallakurichi district, claiming the lives of two people and leaving 16 others injured. The incident involved a luxury bus and a container truck colliding head-on. The luxury bus, carrying 27 passengers from Chennai to Aranthangi, lost control and crossed the median, ultimately colliding with the truck carrying iron scrap from Trichy to Chennai. Tragically, both the bus driver, P Mani, and the truck driver, R Santhosh Kumar, lost their lives on the spot. The injured victims were promptly rescued and transported to nearby hospitals for immediate medical attention. The police have registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision.
