Hit-and-Run Victim Found in Suspect’s Car in Texas Restaurant Parking Lot

WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas — A tragic hit-and-run incident has unfolded in White Settlement, Texas, where the victim was discovered in the front passenger seat of the suspect’s vehicle parked at a local restaurant. The shocking discovery was made approximately 40 miles away from the reported location of the pedestrian accident.

According to WFAA Channel 8, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Nestor Joel Lujan Flores, a 31-year-old resident of Arlington, Texas, claimed that he mistakenly believed he had hit a deer. As a result, Flores continued driving after colliding with the victim, whose identity has not yet been released.

Authorities were alerted to the situation when they received a welfare check call at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, leading them to a Jack-in-the-Box restaurant. A witness had reported a damaged car in the parking lot, with the driver appearing to be slumped over, as reported by The Dallas Morning News.

Upon arrival at the scene, the police were met with a gruesome sight. The victim’s body had gone through the windshield and landed in the front seat of the vehicle, according to NBC DFW. The Morning News further revealed that body parts were also found at the location where the pedestrian was initially struck.

Flores was promptly arrested at the scene, and subsequent investigations revealed that he was impaired at the time of the incident. The Morning News states that charges against Flores are currently pending.

White Settlement Chief of Police Christopher Cook expressed his astonishment at the level of impairment displayed by Flores during the incident. CBS News quoted Chief Cook saying, “When you’re impaired to this level, where you hit a pedestrian on the roadway and you think it’s an animal, that’s a significant impairment, and in all my 28 years, I have never really worked a case like this.”

Chief Cook also conveyed the frustration experienced by first responders in dealing with such avoidable tragedies. He emphasized the importance of making responsible decisions and highlighted the various alternatives available to individuals, such as rideshare services or seeking assistance from friends, rather than getting behind the wheel while impaired. “People do not need to get behind the wheel. We talk about it all the time—make good decisions,” Chief Cook stressed.

The incident has left the community in shock, as the consequences of impaired driving have once again resulted in an innocent life lost. Law enforcement authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run, striving to bring justice to the victim and their grieving loved ones.
