Car Accident in Colorado Springs Leaves Multiple People Injured

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV/Gray News) – A distressing incident occurred on Saturday night in Colorado Springs when a driver, engaged in reckless driving by performing dangerous maneuvers known as donuts, caused their vehicle to tip over, resulting in severe injuries to several individuals.

Emergency services were alerted to a strip mall located at the intersection of South Circle and Monterey at approximately 10:15 p.m. following reports of a car rollover. Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered a damaged vehicle and five individuals with life-threatening injuries.

Based on preliminary investigations, it was revealed that the group had assembled at the shopping center with the intention of engaging in donut maneuvers within the parking lot. All the occupants crammed into a single vehicle, and as the driver circled the lot, the five passengers dangerously hung out of the windows.

Unfortunately, during the course of the reckless driving episode, the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it overturning and landing on the individuals who were precariously positioned outside the windows, according to the police.

Following the incident, the injured passengers were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, while the driver, who miraculously escaped serious harm, was apprehended on charges of reckless driving.

The driver has been identified as Marisol Wentling, as reported by KKTV. Jail records indicate that she remains in custody as of Sunday.

Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident to gather further details and determine the exact sequence of events that led to the accident.
