Woman Found Dead in Submerged Vehicle in Swift Creek Identified

The Chesterfield County Police Department has released the identity of the woman who tragically lost her life after her vehicle became submerged in Swift Creek. Patricia K. Grant, a 56-year-old resident from the 12100 block of Chestertowne Road, was identified as the driver found dead inside the vehicle after an extensive search.

Emergency crews, including Colonial Heights Fire and EMS, Chesterfield Fire and EMS, Colonial Heights Police, and State Police, swiftly responded to a distress call reporting a vehicle submerged in the waters of Swift Creek. The incident occurred at approximately 8:53 p.m. in the 400 block of White Bank Road.

Rescue operations commenced at 9:17 p.m. as dedicated teams braved the treacherous waters to locate the submerged vehicle. After an intensive search effort lasting over an hour, the vehicle was found with Patricia K. Grant inside at 10:55 p.m.

While the investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, Chesterfield police have stated that foul play is not suspected at this time. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear and will be thoroughly examined to determine the cause of the accident.
