Body Found in Search for Gaynor Lord Identified as Mother-of-Three

A body that was discovered in the River Wensum has been formally identified as Gaynor Lord, a mother-of-three. The remains were found a week after Mrs. Lord went missing. She was last seen on CCTV walking along St. Augustines Street in Norwich on December 8th. Mrs. Lord had left work early at Jarrolds department store in Norwich city centre.

During the investigation, Mrs. Lord’s clothing, mobile phone, glasses, and two rings were found in various locations in Wensum Park. Her coat was discovered in the river that runs through the park. A specialist dive team was called in to search a stretch of the River Wensum where officers believed Mrs. Lord may have entered the water.

‘No evidence of third party involvement’

The Norfolk Constabulary has stated that there is no evidence of third party involvement in the case. They are confident that Mrs. Lord did not meet anyone on her way to Wensum Park, where she was last seen. However, the police have not been able to determine Mrs. Lord’s state of mind when she went missing.

Julie Butcher, a friend of Mrs. Lord, revealed that she received a missed call from Mrs. Lord’s mobile phone shortly after she was last seen on CCTV. Ms. Butcher had spoken to Mrs. Lord a few minutes before she left work early. She described the call as a “pocket call” where it sounded like Mrs. Lord was walking along. Ms. Butcher tried to call her back but received no answer.
